Iran’s president called yesterday for Israel to "wiped off the map." Russia, who is reported to be helping Iran achieve nuclear technology, is refusing to join in condemnation of Iran’s stand. Russia also is refusing to sanction Syria for its role in the assassination of Lebanon’s prime minister. As usual, Chabad’s ‘chief rabbi’ of Russia and Putin lackey Berel Lazar has been silent on his goverment’s latest actions endangering Israel the west and democracy.
UPDATE: Apparently responding to growing unease with his fawning relationship with Vladimir Putin, Chabad’s ‘chief rabbi’ of Russia has issued a statement of sorts about Iran:
Moscow, October 27, Interfax - The appeal of Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to wipe Israel off the international map undermines confidence in the Iranian nuclear program, Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar said on Thursday.
"The statement by the Iranian ruler shows that elementary norms of morals and civilized co-existence are alien to him. Thus, attempts by the Tehran regime to gain access to nuclear technologies look alarming, and their claims of an allegedly peaceful nuclear program can hardly be trusted," he said.
"It seemed in recent decades that the world was close to making tolerance a fundamental principle of international relations. Alas, we can see that this is not so," he said.
Lazar hopes that "the Russian administration will take a new look at the danger and condemn the position of the Iranian administration" following this statement.
Note that all ‘chief rabbi’ Lazar calls for is for Russia to "condemn the position of the Iranian administration." He does not call for Russia to act against Iran’s nuclear program or for Russia to stop doing business with Iran. He does not call for UN sanctions or international intervention. This is a weak statement by an even weaker leader.

If this is the case, then I’m sure the Chabad Rabbi probably doesn’t know what to do about the situation because it is out of his hands. This is a dangerous time and this is a dangerous situation that needs care. This is one of those areas over which I’m sure the Rebbe (on some spiritual level) has an influence over. We should have this in mind.

Zoe, we probably disagree on Chabad theology but thank you for your comment that this is a dangerous time. Very dangerous. Every time it looks like the Jews of Israel have turned a corner the Enemy rouses itself. I guess I’ve said about as many times as I can that the big problems Jews face come from people who don’t care about the distinctions Jews make amongst themselves.

As usual the nuance is a little discordant, but what the estimable Ahmadabad is trying to say is that the racial supremacist, fascist, zionist state is an intrusion into the Arab and otherwise Muslim continuuum.
Which is of course understandable. If you were in his place you would feekl exactly the same way.
However, I often wonder whether these characters shoot themselves in the feet, PR wise, on purpose, because they have been suborned by Rothschild Gold.

Rowan, your anti-Semitism illustrates my point. Shmarya, these are the people your Jew-bashing has finally attracted. Pimply-faced adolescents who actually take pleasure in insulting Jews and calling for their genocidal extermination.
Rowan, was it good for you?
October 27, 2005 at 2:40 pm
Paul,
Rowan is a middle aged Englishman. He is not antisemitic or anti-Jewish. He is, however, very anti-Zionist and anti-Israel.
As for the type of people this site attracts, of the offensive, bigoted and disgusting comments, most by far have come from Chabadniks and Chabad supporters.
To address your other point (left on other posts), the solution to “a shanda fer de goyyim” is not to cover up for the wrong-doings of Berel Lazar or Moshe Rubashkin. The solution is for the Jewish community to clearly state its dislike of the actions of Lazar, Rubashkin and the like.
We live in a sad world, a world where leaders are often criminals. Closing our eyes won’t make that go away, and it will not lessen the negetive impact of the problem.

Leave Moshe Rubashkin alone. You are consumed with hatred. He did the crime and he did the time. You seem to want to condemn the man for life. We all make mistakes, he paid his debt to society and is now contributing to it.
October 27, 2005 at 4:35 pm
Not really. His Montex mill situation is quite bad, made all the worse by the fact that his “mortgage lender” appears to be his own family, and that may lead to criminal indictments.

Mr. Shmarya,
You fucking piece of shit. Not tha habad is doing the right things, but tell me what the hell are you doing?! Just Jew-bashing doesn’t help much, it only makes matters worse. It seems to be that your only thrill in life is to bash Jews and habad in paticular. What positive benefit has that or any thing from this time butchering website of yours achieved….?!
I would suggest that the next time you attempt to bash another jew or habad rabbi or leader, you fisrt propose an idea of how the matter could be rectified. Let’s see a cause with your plause.

Scott,
Yes, I call you that because that is what your parents call you. You are a sad person with only negative things to write about others. You are truly ungrateful for the hundreds of meals that were given to you by Chabad rabbis and their wives. To be truly clean and clear, you should repay Rabbi’s Feller, Friedman and others for all the food you ate at their tables. You should use your energy for positive things rather than the negative that you espouse. What a waste of talent, what a waste of time, what a waste of energy from your parents to have created you. Better you should have been a stain on your parents sheets rather than the stain on Jewish society that you have devolved into.
There is nothing worse than an ingrate my boy, and I want to let you know that I would hope you realize that we have a long tradition of dealing with naysayers and negative press mongers in Judaism, just look at Doson and Aviram and how they fought against Moshe Rabbeinu.
The wonderful thing about being able to post is that we can do so without tipping our hat to who we are. On the other hand, you Scott have seen it important to reveal something of yourself when you cry foul over the letter that the Rebbe never sent to you. Why don’t you do a full disclosure and put up a CV or something, some pictures and letters of support to show that you are more than a person with problems and show you have some credentials to back up your opinions.
By the way, where did you get an Aliya on Simchat Torah? Where did you go for Kol Nidrei? Where did you hear the Torah being read this past Shabbat? Swallow your pride and join the human race my boy.

The “stained sheets” are all yours, my friend – wallow in them.
October 30, 2005 at 6:40 am
Scotty boy – the fact that you defend Rowan shows you for what you are – a sick, deluded little man who wishes he were Moshe Rubashkin or Berel Lazar (who, by the way, I dislike intensely) or anyone who has achieved anything in life. I remember you – you walked around Yerushalayim denouncing meshichisten while accepting Shabbos meals from a big time meshichist because no one else wanted you around and because you did not have a penny to your name. You told me schmutz about a man who turned out to be a hard working and very responsible shaliach of the Rebbe – and that was only a fraction of your miserable LH and MSR. See a shrink and get a life.

Dreck –
The only “meshichist” I accepted Shabbos meals (perhaps three or four over a year’s span) from was a man who had been my friend for many years. We spoke about that issue in depth several times. He’s wrong. I told him so then; I’ll tell him so now. He fed me because we were friends, just as I did things for him. I was not broke; his home was not my soup kitchen or my only place to spend Shabbos.
Should I have broken off a long friendship becuase he was a messianist?
At the time, he made no public messianist pronouncements. He (apparently) said yechi in Crown Heights or Kfar Chabad but not in Detroit or Jerusalem. His public persona could best be described as neutral, because he made no public statements on that issue, had no yellow flags, no stickers, etc.
Now, as for you, Dreck. Note the comment rules posted above left. Note that you left two comments today under two different aliases. What happens when someone does that? He often gets banned. If you want to continue to comment, you can. Just send me an e-mail (also see above left, slightly below the comment rules) with your IP address and inform me of the one alias you will be using. I’ll reinstate you. If having me know your identity bothers you, send an e-mail using an anonymous account. Just make sure your IP address and alias are included.

You were broke. And the meshichist is not someone who hung out much in either KC or CH.
October 30, 2005 at 11:23 pm
1. I was not broke.
2. The only meshichist I hung out with was MA. Who are you talking about?
