  1. Upton Sinclair was a dedicated socialist who continued to support Sacco & Vanzetti even though he knew they were guilty. He admitted to a friend in a letter that if he told the truth his lefty readers wouldn’t buy his work.

One of the great ironies is that Sinclair wrote The Jungle in order to popularize socialism in the US working class and it ended up doing nothing of the sort. Sinclair didn’t give one fig about pure food, but his book inspired the passing of the Food & Drug Act.

There is also Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. Reading it, I experienced Schadenfreude for keeping kosher. In light of the recent scandal, I’m not so sure.

Eric Schlosser is a twat. The non-kosher meat industry is much much nicer than he makes it out to be.

However Rubashikin’s is chillul Hashem that tarnishes the entire jewish community. And the rabbi’s are quicker to protect themselves than the souls of the community.

Why the rubashkin’s gang deserves such protection from the “leaders of the community” is beyond me.
