Israel Has More Than 40 Darfur Refugees – Most Held In Military Prison

Israel is holding more than 40 Sudanese refugees who crossed into Israel from the Sinai and gave themselves up to the IDF, seeking asylum. Most are being held in military prison. 10 were released to the care of kibbutzim until asylum can be arranged in other countries. These people fled the genocide in Darfur and subsequent persecution in Egypt and other Arab countries. What should Israel do? Readers?

On one hand, I’m glad they at least made it to relative safety, but aren’t they just slaves changing hands from master to master?

This would not be without precedent (Russians, Ethiopians, etc.)

Once they are vetted, and it is seen that no Islamists are infiltrating among them, they should be given asylum. Allegedly racist Israel gave aylum to a handful of Vietnamese boat people in the 1970’s. (They later moved on, but have good things to say about Israel. Although the Ashkenazi Socialist establishment is racist against brown skinned Jews, I don’t belive that Israel is a bad, racist country).

Socialism doesn’t even enter into it, unless of course you are a settler, from whom racist attitudes are ALWAYS expected.

When you’re opening your door to people escaping such a nightmare, there’s no need to check what type of belief system (if any) they may or may not be a part of.

Believing in Islam, in and of itself, is not a crime and really has nothing to do with Israel’s function in this matter.

SShhhhhh. Don’t tell the Haridim about these people or they will riot to free them..yeah right. They riot for a child killer, but not for these people. May g-d have mercy on us!!!

4 years sneaking past hostile Muslim fanatic populations to get past Egypt and to Israel.? My God these people should be interviewed and a book written on something like this. The proceeds going to a Darfur relief fund.

“Believing in Islam, in and of itself, is not a crime and really has nothing to do with Israel’s function in this matter.”

I don’t care about peaceful Muslims. “Islamists” mean Islamo-facists who want to kill us. (Unless you think suicide bombing is a legitimate form of poltical protest).

Firstly, I reject the term “suicide bombing” in general-unless the bomber takes a rowboat to the middle of an otherwise-unoccupied lake, or body of water, and blows himself up, in solitude, into oblivion.

Wouldn’t “homicide bomber” be more apt? After all, any bombing, by definition, has by definition, a measure of personal self-destruction attached with it.

What about the unwitting victims, who never saw it coming? Are they victims of a “suicide bombing”, or a homicide?

Look, it’s Israel and the United States itself that has actually gone, and actually created an Islamic STATE in Iraq.

Would you categorize all of the residents of Baghdad as “Islamofascists”, because they happen to live in a zone of occupation as well?

“Look, it’s Israel and the United States itself that has actually gone, and actually created an Islamic STATE in Iraq.”

What does Israel have to do with it? Do you believe the lies, that the war in Iraq was fought on Israel’s behalf? If the nefarious Jewsih lobby really runs the world for its own benefit, they’ve done a crappy job of it. (And where do I sign up to become an Elder of Zion?)

As for your other point, I concede: homocide bomber is a better term.

Not all Bagdadis are Islamofacists, just the ones who blow people up for trying to vote, or for being of the wrong Muslim denomination, etc.

The war in Iraq may have been a mistake, but Saddam was not as cute & cuddly as Michael Moore would lead you to believe.

Show me a lie, and I’ll tell you if I believe in it or not.

Do you deny a pro-Zionist neocon cabal in Washington? Do you deny that they exist at all, or do you in some way benefit from leading us to believe that US foreign policy is totally not influenced by their thought processes and personal motivations?

Iraq was not just a “mistake”. The devastation of the sovereign nation of Iraq and their “liberation” (read: forced regime change to hardcore fundamentalist Islamic state)is the final demented horror of what George W. Bush and the entire Bush Crime Family have created and foisted on the world.

Let’s not pussyfoot around such things.

    This is neo-Nazi bullshit.

With a shortage of Arab and Thai labor, these Darfur refugees could easily take their jobs. It’s ironic to see black Muslim refugees seek asylum in the Jewish state from the marauding Arabs.

You are confusing two different things–Sudan has had a civil war going on for more than 20 years in its southern region, where the secessionists were mostly various African tribes that practiced either Christianity or various traditional animistic religions. Some, of the seccionists in the south, though also are Muslims. They mostly belonged to the Dinka and Nuweir groups, and sought independence from the Arabic speaking, Muslim run government from Khartoum. The Darfur rebellion is a separate civil war from the North/South civl war–its a different region entirely. Most of the people rebelling in Darfur against the Khartoum government are indeed Muslim, but they are not Arabs, and don’t have Arabic as their first language. They are also mostly of African descent. I think by American racial standards, though, most of the “Arabs” of Sudan would be considered “black” over here. There has been so much intermarriage and intermingling. But they have an identity and a self image as Arabs first, and they look down on the other Sudanese. I think also there is a strong element in the Darfur conflict of farmers versus cattle-herders–even though both sides are Muslims. Whatever the case, it seems clear that a genocide is being committed against the people of Darfur by the Janjaweed militia, which is supported by the central government, and the world is basically doing nothing, just like in Rwanda.

“Homocide bombing”? This PC nonsense really annoys me. All bombings are homocide bombings. What makes these special is that a person kills himself in the process. Maybe you want to be precise and say “suicide-homocide bombing”, but that’s just ridiculous. Everyone knows what is meant by a “suicide bomber”, and the motivation behind changing the appelation is purely political. Which is fine if you’re trying to make a political statement, but not for anyone trying to describe things objectively.

Another thing that annoys me: Arabs who say they’re not being anti-semetic because they’re semites too. Ok, this is not similar, but I’m just venting.
