Are you sure you’re not confusing two different marches on Washington?

  2. Positive.

Your confusion most likely comes from the idea that the march was organized by and for ORTHODOX rabbis. This is false. It was conceived and organized by Peter Bergson (Hillel Kook) for ALL rabbis. In the end, after great pressure from the jewish establishment to stay away, only some Orthodox showed. But Hetzberg was there – with his father, a Belzer rabbi.

I believe he also marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. Another worthy march.

  4. You’re correct. He did. I should have mentioned it in my post.

Shmarya, I know all about the march’s history. I only asked because the obituary only referred to Dr. King’s march. Thanks for clearing it up.

Ironic that back then, it was the non-Orthodox who were reluctant to participate in such an event.

Hertzberg was also calling for a Palestinian state as far back as 1968.
