KETUSHAS HIT SEFAT – 20 INJURED

I just received a call from Sefat. 7 ketusha rockets struck the city at about 2:40 pm. 16 people have been injured, 2 seriously. The rockets hit Bar Ilan’s extension center, the area surrounding the central bus station, the absorption center and at other points in the city. My friend was in the home of Simply Tsfat violinist Jonathan Lipschitz when the first rocket landed. The entire house shook. That rocket landed about 100 feet from Chaim Clorfene‘s home. My friend thinks most of the injuries were in the absorption center.

[Hat tip: Ellen Silman.]

UPDATE: I spoke with Chaim Clorefene. He and his family are fine, thank God. He says that 20 people were injured. He also says five of the ketushas hit near his house. Ellen Silman now tells me more ketushas hit near Carmiel.

UPDATE 2: The Jerusalem Post is reporting one fatality from the Sefat attack. [The fatality was in Nahariya.] It also reports residents have been ordered into shelters, but none of the residents I spoke with were in shelters or planned on entering them.

unstead of your diatribes to destroy judaism, you aren your ilks should say “oshamnoo” when you condemned those who fought the stupid disengagement. you and your friends who beleive in secular values have used all the energy to decry the terrible sin of not beleiveing the goyim. Instead you and your friends should asked forgiveness from G-d (if you beleieve in one) for not fighting against the expuilsion of 9,000 of jews which brought about Hamastan, and the Kassams and Katyhuchas into the heart of Israel. Tzfat, Nahariya and Haifa are in the range of the enemies thanks to those who beleived in the failed and false messiahs of “new middle east” and “peace” shmeass which brought about the terrible predicament which Jews in Israel find themselves to be now. You should go the Tziyon of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Zt”l and ask forgiveness for all the vile things that your filthy hands typed against such a Tzadik. he was the Tzadik whose predictions on this issue were unfortuantely come to fruition. He saw this with his clear vision 30 years ago, when the stupid Camp David was pushed on us by the glorious Liberal Jimmy Carter and then we had other Jew lovers who pushed us further the path of thios abbyys. Until we came to other “friends” Clinton and other leftists thinkers from non Jews and Jews. People who would prefer to put aisde JEwish history and TRadition and change it with pseudo Secular values…They brought disaster: oslo, Wye agreement, Cap David II, Road MAp, Disengagement and hitkansut and now all these tragedies.

Shamrya you can do teshuva: All energy used by you to decry Yiddishkeyt and fight against Yiddishkeyt and against Jewish Sages and you called to embrace goyishe values…you can have a chance to use all your might and energy to fight for Israel, for Jewish values and speak good about Jewish leaders and those who uphold the Torah.

otherwise you will frot in your immoral decay fo supporting Jew haters and become a Jewish hater yourself…as you are right there…

    DO TESHUVA!!

The problem is that Hamistan was there before the disengagement and is still there with Israel back in. Now. Today. We can argue about whether overall the IDF was better deployed but disengagement didn’t stop the IDF from going back in and, don’t kid yourself, the settlers being on the edge of Hamistan didn’t make it any less Hamistan before the IDF and the 9,000 left.

The strategic problem is the demographic one of relative Israel vs. Islamic strengths across the board and Hamistan is a tough nut to crack and it doesn’t begin in Gaza but extends all the way into Iran.

Israel’s tip-top generals don’t believe they can march into Gaza City–liquidate the Hamas infrastructure and make it stick. And as Iran develops longer range missiles your occupation in Lebanon also gets more complicated.

The Rebbe made a lot of predictions. Some were of dire things. Some were of wonderful things that have not come to pass.

hamastan was not there in the present form before disengagement. They were not the goverment. They did NOt THROW KASSAMS BEFORE DISENGAGEMENT. Sderot was not hit. Ashkelon was safe. all leftist talk notwithstanding the settllers did PROTECT the cities of Israel! as we see now. The disengagemnt and expulsion (a word you are afraid to write (you write “left”)) have made tougher for Israel to properly respond; they are farid of public opinion to re-enter gaza when necessary. Even now they have not entered certain areas. When they entered Saturday, they immediately announced that they have left and were there for only a few hours. Furthermore: the whole “expulsion” with nothing in return boosted the morale and appetite of the wicked hamastan and all their counterparts that make the irghts argument right: that more “gestures” and the more you give the more they want to take and the more they feel entitled and the more the y attack and the upgrade their level of attack.

Yes, ultimately Iran will have to be addressed in one way or another; but in the meantime they use their proxy the hamastan to do the ob for them.

And since you say that the generals don’t beleive they can enter in Gaza city liquidate the infrastructure and make it stick, so why in heavens do you leave that place, being that when you are there you have a greater chance to minimize and prevent the problems and by leaving you gain nothing in return?!

While at the long run Iran will have to be dealt with in a different way; nevertheless in the shorter term no sane country can allow their cities to be turned into a hell where they are shelled and where the residents cannot in their home calmly. In fact: What many are rightfully saying that Israel turned a blind eye for the past 6 years on Hezbollah having them at the fence on the border. They let them grow and exist. This was also at least partically and maybe more than partically to do witrh the mindset of not being there for the world will call us “occupiers” and not only the secular jew haters world; but actually the self hating liberal or Torah hating JEw were part of those whose whole judaism revolved around decrying Israelis as “occupiers” when in fact their presence kept the enemies to a lower profile to say the least. And now what are we left with? after the whole piece by piece by piece giving and creating hamastan and hezbbolah? tzfat, and othe small towns and Nahariya are in the bunkers…Hafa was hit…All to satisfy the self hating jews and bleeding good for nothing…who all they want is to destroy any holiness and beleif in G-d and Judaism.

But, you know: juist as we persevered other enemies we will win over these enemies as well, those from outside and those inside!

UNfortunately, the Rebbe’s predictions over the security of Israel and it’s policies have come to pass to the hilt..but the only hope is that people recognize that they are mortals and stop being false messiahs prophesizing that conversion to secular values will bring salvation…they never brought and they never will…and all those whose energy in life has been to combat judaism and jewish customs and jewish leaders and the Torah should do teshuva…

I believe that rocket fire has been on and off before disengagement–and before disengagement (call it retreat if you want) the IDF was not able to put a permanent stop to Hamas ground action or the action of its affiliates–yes the Israeli communities in Gaza were targets of choice but the Hamistan infrastructure has been only intermittently touched for years.

I see your point that moving Israeli citizens to the east encouraged the targets to move to the east with them but I still maintain that the fundamental strategic threat–and this threat is distinquished from the tactical threat of the rockets themselves–has been untouched for years even before the Gazan disengagement/retreat/realignment/convergence/explusion/experiment/fachacta gamble.

I did not say that Gaza City was left. I say that the generals have not operated, that the IDF has not operated in Hamas stronghold for years to maintain order since the PA was given responsibility for Gaza–there have been several campaigns to put a lid on things but the infrastructure has been largely left alone–on the other hand there is a lot of usable intelligence on day to day operations so there might be a trade off here. This is not a problem of public relations, or being afraid to offend people, but the level of operational violence that would be required and the feeling that a maneageable occupation will be hard at best and very expensive, certainly in Gaza.

Israel does not wish to dissolve the PA and reimpose the occupation formally in the Palestinian areas.

    Things are tricky.

And yes the IDF left Lebanon and Hezbollah dug in and the cost-benefit ratio of occupation there should be rethought–but again the IDF generals, and not because they are bad Jews, do not wish to occupy a large population–I don’t mean because people will think those stinky Jews but because it is a long hard slog to occupy.

Don’t forget–the IDF went all the way to Beirut and many Israeli guys over the years have taken tiuliim “chotz la’aretz” in the pleasant hills and rolling valleys of Lebanon–the retreat from Lebanon played out over a number of years; Israel is surrounded when all is said and done and it cannot strike out and occupy all its enemies in all directions.

This is a tough nut to crack–right now the IDF is debating whether to commit ground forces to Lebanon and deciding with the government of fallible human politicians what goals to serve by sending them.

An IDF without secular skills btw is not much of an army.

“I believe that rocket fire has been on and off before disengagement–and before disengagement…”

I’m sorry Paul we did NOT hve the Kassams before the disengamgent and certainly not the intensity and consistency. plain and simple. This is the problem with those who have “secularfalse messiah”s”; they are blinded to thepoint of not seeing the facts and acknowledging them. Listen Paul and other secular messiah beleivers: Before Oslo , i remember 1992 before RAbin’s election the problem was: KNIFINgS IN bAT yAM and a little here or there (not to minimize them). But bnowhere was SUICIDE BOMBERS in the hear of israel as AFTER THE BEGINING OF OSLO!

“.. (call it retreat if you want)…”

no call a spade a spade: retreat and EXPULSION BY THE GOVERMENT OF ISRAEL!

” the IDF was not able to put a permanent stop to Hamas ground action or the action of its affiliates–”

Because the goverment did not want to use the hard fist because the bleeding heart liberals because the our submission to bush the best friend…we had to listen to their “leigitimate demands” the acceptance of the “roadmap” and therefore we had to make it happen bby retreating! and expelling jews!!!

“yes the Israeli communities in Gaza were targets of choice but the Hamistan infrastructure has been only intermittently touched for years”.

The israeli communities were not usual targets for te settlers being inside gaza defended those inside the communities by the enemies knowing their weakness that more they do anything the settllers will stay longer…and they did not dream that they have any strength to have the gut and courage to target center israel…and hamstan did not have officail backing and standing of “democratic elections” that was allowed by shmomert capitulating policies…

I see your point that moving Israeli citizens to the east encouraged the targets to move to the east with them but I still maintain that the fundamental strategic threat–and this threat is distinquished from the tactical threat of the rockets themselves–has been untouched for years even before the Gazan disengagement/retreat/realignment/convergence/explusion/experiment/fachacta gamble.”

This are philosophies of secular enlgihtened people who live in their ivory tower, but on the ground they were subdued…no one in their right mind in 1979 thought even to send kassams…only right after oslo etc

“I did not say that Gaza City was left. I say that the generals have not operated, that the IDF has not operated in Hamas stronghold for years to maintain order since the PA was given responsibility for Gaza–there have been several campaigns to put a lid on things but the infrastructure has been largely left alone–”

exacty they haven’t been touched because the PA was there and we had tio “gie them a chance” to do the job. How foolish and stupid from the false messiahs’ to entrust arafat to rid hamas!!! one hamas stengthens another hamas. WE gave them the infrastructure to create and establish it on an official and strong entity. The stupid rationale wwas: “Give them arms…so we can fihgt them with Air force…” how stupid and pathetic….

” This is not a problem of public relations, or being afraid to offend people,”

no it is fear to confront Washington and to tell them: all their “piece processes’ failed and boomeranged.

“Israel does not wish to dissolve the PA and reimpose the occupation formally in the Palestinian areas’.

That is why the establishment of their entities was a crime, they should haveknown that they would dissolve their entitites even in the ace of Kassams and katyushas….and they would not be able to rinpose what is the only DETERRENT “occupying” the area…

“…but again the IDF generals, and not because they are bad Jews, do not wish to occupy a large population–I don’t mean because people will think those stinky Jews…”

No it is primarily because of that that they persisted with the false messianic tragedy and not make a u turn right from the beggining, because they are blinded and mentalblocked with their false messianic secular messiah’s.

“Don’t forget–the IDF went all the way to Beirut and many Israeli guys over the years have taken tiuliim “chotz la’aretz” in the pleasant hills and rolling valleys of Lebanon–”

yes, and they under the same false messiahship of the secularr gods turned a blind eye at hezbbollah n lebanon because not to enrage even our best friend oin the white house. and not declare that our false vision of dissopcupation would bring peace and calmwas a fallacy….

“This is a tough nut to crack–right now the IDF is debating whether to commit ground forces to Lebanon and deciding with the government of fallible human politicians what goals to serve by sending them”.

yes and at the end of the day this is the only thing that they will have to do. Right now A MILLION PEOPLE ARE HELD HOSTAGE. The USA would do a million times worse had Chicago LA NY NJ MASS been bombed with katyushas BUT iSRAEL HAS TO SUFFER TO MAKE THE CRIMINAL BLLEDDING HEARTS ASSASSINS SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT!

“An IDF without secular skills btw is not much of an army”.

1000% But only if it is combined with common sense and with the trust in Hashem and Torah can all of them combine to do the normal right thing.

  7. Paul Freedman

avrohom–in some ways we disagree a lot in some ways not so–our main disagreements are the fundamental applicability of Tora-true emunah and chasidus to solving the current crisis and, the security function of Israeli civilian populations in the territories, and the degree to which in non-supernatural terms the generals have misread the difficulty of occupying/terrifying/banishing hostile Arab populations. I don’t think the problem is Oslo or false messiahs because most Jews think Oslo failed and I think calling secularism a “false messiah” makes sense for this web site, but it’s just a metaphor.

But don’t you think that even secular-minded “bad Jews” will take the current events into account in thinking about what to do in the future? And don’t forget we have our own experiences with the “good days” of the occupation before 1973 and the ups and downs of occupations since then–the belief that the power needed to intimidate Israel’s enemies and properly occupy them will be very very very painful comes from experience not “ivory tower” thinking, from, in many cases, veterans of past wars, not from professors.

  8. Paul Freedman

In other words, the generals who don’t want to go into Lebanon with an occupying ground force (and they sure don’t seem in any hurry) now were Lieutenants and Captains who went in before in other Lebanese wars. They aren’t pacifists and they aren’t just worrying about PR problems or pleasing the nations or being nice. I wish it were as easy as Jews stop self-hate, tell the goyiim to shove it, trust in HaShem, and show force.

  9. Paul Freedman

but maybe they will go in after all–they are announcing objectives that seem to require boots on the ground if the nations do not remove the threat on the north, I suggest you try to believe that the IDF, even a godless secularist IDF is not a bunch of cowards:

Olmert to Annan: Operation will end after Hezbollah is disarmed

By Aluf Benn, Amos Harel and Yoav Stern, Haaretz Correspondents

Israel will not end its military operation in Lebanon until the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1559, which calls for disarming Hezbollah and deploying the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Friday. …

    —-

  10. avrohom

    “our main
disagreements are the fundamental applicability of Tora-true emunah and chasidus to solving the current crisis”

Correct: Torah always was and always be part of the equation.

” and, the security function of Israeli civilian populations in the territories, and the degree to which… the generals have misread the difficulty of occupying/terrifying/banishing hostile Arab populations. …”

Correct. Plus: their alienation to Torah and it’s values, including also, their thinking that they had to “shake themselves off” Erets Yisrael to State of Israel, which included the utopic idea of bbeleiving that arrived the messianic days where Modern Israel will embrace the Arab Muslim world with their modern ideas and “a new middle east order” will bring bussiness between arabs and Israelis and they will even intermarry etc etc etc.

All of the above (comibining with some of what you say) brought them to these false beleifs in the corrupted messiaship of “peace” shmiess.

“I don’t think the problem is Oslo or false messiahs because most Jews think Oslo failed”

It certainly failed big time and costs 1000,s lives and so many wounded and the new war going on now and katyushaas at the centers of israel with 250,000 in bunkers for shabbat. But it unfortunately also indented a false beleif in their beleiver that is very hard to shake off. That is why when they were offered the wye agreement, roadmap, they clung to it. Then they unilaterally flew into expelling 9,000 plus jews that brought this tragedy. Where did that kind of thiking come about? From the watershed that Oslo brought into the minds of people “maybe maybe…we can trust arafat….” or “we can trust the agreement…” is is for their self interest” and other baloney sacred secularist and modern gods and beleifs.

“But don’t you think that even secular-minded “bad Jews” will take the current events into account in thinking about what to do in the future?”

Being a pessimisst now: I say: NO!

“… And don’t forget we have our own experiences with the “good days” of the occupation before 1973 and the ups and downs of occupations since then–the belief that the power needed to intimidate Israel’s enemies and properly occupy them will be very very very painful comes from experience…”

That is what i used to think. I used to talk in the early oslo days to some of mty relatives who beleived in it…they served the army…they told me Rabin Co did not trust the arabs…they came to their conclusions from actual experince and all the talk you give me now 13 years later…

“… not “ivory tower” thinking, from, in many cases, veterans of past wars, not from professors….”

But after 13 years of exeprince we can see that: needless to say thatpeople like PEres stem from those kind of people who bought foreign secular notions to be sacred and they worshipped those values as real avoda zara. But even the generals and even the one who is comatose and said “from this chair we see from a different perspective…” etc. after real experince over 13 years and such inaction to take a real hard fist (not an occasional operation “storm…” in the summer 2002 but a real turn of the clock at that time to reverse oslo despite his promises otherwise earlier and the promises o the progenitors of oslo rabin etc that when oslo violated from Gaza they will reenter etc. ) one comes to the only conclusion:

They bought into the secular notions that the solution must come from the moves similar to oslo and not in the opposite direction…they became handicapped and were no longer able to think in terms that they beleived in 67…

“…now were Lieutenants and Captains who went in before in other Lebanese wars…”

Btw: Olmert and Perets i beleive were no lieutenants or captains…

“… They aren’t pacifists and they aren’t just worrying about PR problems or pleasing the nations or being nice….”

But they too bought unto the secular values and now they beleive that they must appease the USA adn they must adopt ultimately their “convergence” and other such garbage…they must show the “world” they have both worlds: they will fights (bridges and warehouses and airports) buit they will not hit civilians…will not assassinate the leaders…take their to enter lebanon…and time is of utmost importance…

“.. I suggest you try to believe that the IDF, even a godless secularist IDF is not a bunch of cowards:”

From your mouth to Hashem’s ears. But i do not beleive it until i really see it. Bush (the best friend ) is already calling for restraint. They can kill outrightly civilians (two yesterday two today etc.) putting 250,000 in bomb shleters and we cannot hold these bastards accountable???

  11. avrohom

UNfortunately again , i was proven right and your gedolim and people you put trust on were proven complete failures. Nine killed in Haifa so many wounded hundreds of thousands in shelters so that we should again bomb “roads, bridges, etc.” and g-d forbid not raise the ire of our enemies yemach shemomo vezichrom, chirac, putin etc. and even our “best friend” bush would tell us that we have the green light but “Restraint” no “disproportionate response”. There you go: Lsiten carefully as long as there will be REAL RESPONSE to target to kill enemies and even IF CIVILIAN ARE BYSTANDERS: NO ONE ASKED THEM TO AID AND BRING THIS GOVEMENT TO KILL US and most importantly: if you want to kill less civiliabns as people, the more of the enemy you KILL TODAY the less of civilians you will have to kill tomorow!

All the garbageg talk about “general” “Experiences” are “liohevel vwelorik” are baloney just like the owner of this website is and you could make on him asher yiotzar with all the hiddurim.

Listen: the mistake WAS AND IS the power of deterrence that Israel once had was lost! and this because they gave terriroies for NOTHING IN RETURN the expelled jews for nothing in return they allowed hamas to run and goven they allowed them to send a bomb here and shooting there and a suicied here and and stabbing there and all this with “hechsher” of Badatz fo USA goverment and with the approval of our leftist and the people who want to destroy judaism…a ll of you DO TESHUVA!!!and know that BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS (SICK ANIMAL LOVER AND JEW AND JUDAISM HATER THAT YOU ARE).

  12. Paul Freedman

avorhom–these things rectify themselves–personally I don’t accept other Jews’ “holier-than-thou” calls for repentance–I don’t know that Shmarya is in particular an “animal lover”–last time I looked he wasn’t a vegetarian. And personally, from my own experience, I have consistently suggested that aerial campaigns and artillery require infantry components. I don’t myself think that the IDF leaving a territory is necessarily connected to whether setllers are there–the deterrence is Gaza, as I believe, was lost before disengagement. I assume if the war continues and Olmert’s strategy–if there is one–doesn’t bear fruit he will be gone, as Labor was replaced after 1973–events probably before your time.

  13. avrohom

and yes “don’t confuse me with facts…” i mad eup my mind that the gedolim and false messiahs the generals and calls for “isms” are right… you see that the deterioration begins IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE DISENGAGEMENT but you will not change your position….you see that Hamas won right after disengagemnt and you will give me the baloney of all your gedolim because you don’t care about the facts…you see that hezbolah chose to do so right after it saw the how olmert shmolmert reacted afgter the abduction of shalit…but don’t confuse me with facts… you see that so far: THE ONLY PLACE where they ahve not shot from is from the West Bank because THE ARMY IS RIGHT THERE ALL THE TIME!!!and the try to wipe out the anything BEFORE TI HAPPENS but these are smiple things///but for the followers of gedolim of the NYT and other Professors and other garbage academics and torah less values they are dense to get it….a little humility…

shmarya is a jew and judaism hater… his blog is devoted to rid holinessof torah and jewish practices and kjewish leaders… if he is has “Freedom” and democracy to write these vile things i have the freedom to curse him out as it is fit to every EREV RAV FROM OUR PEOOPLE…
