20,000 Shekel Bounty for Killing Gays

The Jerusalem Post reports:

…Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, the head of the ultra-Orthodox and anti-Zionist Eda Haredit rabbinic court, has blamed homosexuals’ "obscenity and promiscuity in the Holy Land" for Israel’s loss in the second war in Lebanon, while the moderate Rabbi Ya’acov Meidan, one of the heads of the Har Etzion Yeshiva in Alon Shvut, attacked the idea of a gay pride parade in a scathing opinion piece entitled "Stopping the parade of abomination." This week, unidentified activists distributed a pamphlet in Jerusalem that promised a NIS 20,000 bounty for killing a homosexual.…

This is Orthodox Judaism, my friends. Stay in it, raise your children in it, at your own– and at your children’s – peril.

” unidentified activists ” in an anonymous pamphlet is Orthodox Judaism?

Or maybe its a bunch of queers doing what the Nazis yemach, did by burning the Reichstag, in order to blame the communists.

Since they vandalized a synagogue its more then likely.

    >Or maybe its a bunch of queers doing what the Nazis yemach, did by burning the Reichstag, in order to blame the communists.

Or maybe its a handful of people and not the entire society. One needn’t invoke conspiracy theories and one needn’t slander an entire society.

  4. Unlikely. There is a long history of haredi violence against this march and against gays, and there have been open threats made by haredi leaders. If it isn’t haredim, it’s Kahane guys …

Some or even all Jerusalem haredim or the Kahane guys != Orthodox Judaism.

  6. Perhaps you should actually take the time to READ the stories I’ve posted on this. Opposition is across the board, and threats of violence and use of language that can only be described as incitement to violence is as well.

  10. You want to read a poem about it? Here’s a crappy poem by Sholom, titled “Fags in the Holy City”.

    Photo from Jerusalem

    White-bearded rabbis

    Bastions of righteousness

    Keepers of the faith

Defenders of the moral high ground

Or so their PR firms would have us believe

    Wearing garments of sackcloth

Over Zeidene Bekishes and Vareme Gatkes

(Silk frock coats and warm long johns)

    Staging a show

    A spectacle for the media

Purim costume masking an agenda of hate

    Sackcloth should itch

    Like your old lady’s crabs
